WPIG of Seattle’s Philanthropy Committee provides WPIG with quarterly volunteer and annual philanthropy opportunities. WPIG is committed to supporting local and international organizations through networking, volunteering, and fundraising.  We seek out organizations with values and goals that align with our mission to encourage helping women and children move from places of need to self-sufficiency.

Our 2010 and 2011 charity is Ryther, a Seattle organization that works with and provides services to foster children.  WPIG has chosen to carry out our mission through volunteering our time, energy and compassion to this more than deserving local cause.  Foster children are some of the neediest citizens in our community. Ryther offers safe places and develops opportunities for children, youth and families to heal and grow to their highest potential. Ryther is a recognized leader in providing and advocating a comprehensive continuum of care and assistance for children, youth and families experiencing or at risk from neglect, mental illness, or emotional, physical, sexual and/or chemical abuse. We hope you will join us this year at our annual event and show your support for Ryther and WPIG!

Our 2009 charity was the “Give to Asia” Bill and Pat Bali FundWPIG donated proceeds from our 2009 event to this organization's Scholarship Fund to help girls in Bali gain access to higher education beyond high school.  WPIG also donated resources to the Bill and Pat Bali Fund, specifically earmarked for a young girl at the Untal-Untal orphanage, Amelia Febrina Merry Bogia, in order to support her aspiration to become a teacher.  This support is inclusive of housing, clothing, food, education and healthcare.  WPIG's members have also committed to communicating directly with Amelia through written letters as her sponsors.

Our 2008 charity was YWCA of Seattle.  WPIG carried out our mission by joining the YWCA to empower women and families by enabling them to live self sufficient and fulfilled lives.  The YWCA provides services to meet critical needs, promote self-sufficiency, reduce violence, and achieve equal opportunities for all people.  WPIG aligned with YWCA by canvasing for and giving half of the proceeds raised at our first annual charity event to the YWCA food bank.
